Katy Perry Promises to ‘Love You ‘Til the End’ on ‘Lifetimes’ Snippet
Katy Perry‘s album 143 is on the way — and she’s teasing the electro-pop music on the LP with a new snippet. On Friday, the singer shared a 30-second preview of the track “Lifetimes” from the upcoming album.
“I know you feel it/Can you believe it?/I’m gonna love you ’til the end and then repeat it,” she sings in the shared snippet. “For life/For life.”
Perry shared the teaser on Friday alongside clips of her dancing to the song with her fans during an album preview event. “143 is a party and everyone’s invited,” Perry wrote on Instagram. The new album is set to be released on Sept. 20 via Capitol Records, and marks her first LP since 2020’s Smile.
“I set out to create a bold, exuberant, celebratory dance-pop album with the symbolic 143 numerical expressions of love as a throughline message,” Perry previously said about the album.
The new snippet arrives after the singer received intense criticism for the album’s lead single “Women’s World,” and for her work with producer Dr. Luke, who is also credited as a producer on the YouTube preview of “Lifetimes.”
“The craving for attention felt in the ‘Woman’s World’ video (it practically screams: ‘I’m still relevant!’) is a jarring acknowledgment of just how far off that period now is and how pop and the world around Perry have changed,” read a Rolling Stone commentary piece by David Browne about the single.
As Rolling Stone previously reported, 143 reconnected Perry with some producers she’s employed in the past — such as Stargate (“Firework”), Max Martin and Dr. Luke (the duo behind “I Kissed a Girl,” “Teenage Dream,” “California Gurls,” and “E.T.”) — as well as some new collaborators such as Vaughn Oliver, Rocco Valdes, and Theron Thomas. “Katy knew exactly the album she wanted to make and put together the team to make it happen,” a Capitol Records source told Rolling Stone.
