Katy Perry Details New Album ‘143’
Ahead of the arrival of Katy Perry’s new single “Woman’s World” tomorrow, the singer has revealed the title and release date for her next album.
143 — named after the Nineties pager code for “I love you” — is due out September 20 via Capitol Records. The album marks Perry’s first studio album since her 2020 LP Smile.
“I set out to create a bold, exuberant, celebratory dance-pop album with the symbolic 143 numerical expression of love as a throughline message,” Perry said of the album in a statement.
Capitol Records added in a statement that the album is “jam-packed with the kind of empowering and provocative pop anthems fans have come to love, 143 is an album with a lot of heart – and a lot of BPM.”
143 is available to preorder now at Perry’s website in a variety of formats, including exclusive colored vinyl, a cassette version, and more. On Thursday, Perry will share both the song and video for “Woman’s World,” where she cosplays as a risqué Rosie the Riveter.
As Rolling Stone previously reported, 143 reconnects Perry with some producers she’s employed in the past — like Stargate (“Firework”), Max Martin and Dr. Luke (the production duo behind “I Kissed a Girl,” “Teenage Dream,” “California Gurls,” and “E.T.”) — as well as some new collaborators.
“Katy knew exactly the album she wanted to make and put together the team to make it happen,” a Capitol Records source told Rolling Stone. “And that includes previous collaborators including Luke, Stargate, Max Martin, and Sarah Hudson, and some new heavy hitters such as Vaughn Oliver, Rocco Valdes, and Theron Thomas.”
