Watch Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum Share ‘Classified’ Final ‘Fly Me to the Moon’ Trailer
“No way are they cleared for this,” Channing Tatum says as he presents the newest Fly Me to the Moon trailer with co-star Scarlett Johansson. True to her character in the movie, Johansson responds, “Come on, we gotta bend the rules just this once… “
In the latest sneak peak into the Apple TV+ and Sony project, the stakes are sky high when conniving marketing specialist Kelly Jones (Scar Jo) is recruited to help gain support for NASA amidst the space race. Soon, Jones butts heads with Apollo 11 launch specialist Cole Davis (Tatum) over her new mission to “fake” the moon landing as a back-up in case the real one fails. With the fate of mankind’s space exploration in their hands, the two can’t help but turn their differences into a budding romance.
While the initial trailer set Fly Me to the Moon up as a cheeky comedy that happens to take place in the Sixties, the final trailer makes sure to communicate the severity of the tensions between Russia and the United States at the time, and how that created an enduring conspiracy theory about the moon landing.
This is by design, as director Greg Berlanti told People his goal “was to craft a big, fun, smart original movie around whether or not the American government could have possibly faked the Apollo 11 moon landing, which is still the most-watched live TV event in the history of the world.”
Johansson will star alongside Woody Harrelson, Ray Romano, and Jim Rash. The film premieres exclusively in theaters July 12.
